2016 Texas A&M Volleyball schedule | Season Tickets
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – A minimum of nine Texas A&M volleyball matches will be nationally televised either on SEC Network or ESPNU, the Southeastern Conference announced today while revealing the leagues' volleyball and soccer broadcast schedules for the upcoming season. Additional matches could be added as there are four designated volleyball wildcard slots to be broadcast on SEC Network during the final month of the season.
For the third consecutive year, SEC volleyball and soccer matches will have extensive coverage, with the SEC Network and ESPNU airing a combined 80 women's volleyball contests and 50 women's soccer games. SEC Network +, the digital extension of SEC Network available on WatchESPN, is set to feature more than 250 matchups.
The defending SEC champion Texas A&M volleyball team first takes the national stage on Friday, Sept. 23, with the Aggies' matchup at Alabama being featured on SEC Network. ESPNU will broadcast from Reed Arena on Sept. 25 as Texas A&M plays host to Auburn. ESPNU also will carry the Aggies' match at Arkansas on Oct. 5 before Texas A&M returns to the SEC Network for its Oct. 9 contest at Ole Miss.
On Oct. 16, SEC Network will televise Texas A&M's highly anticipated home match against Florida, which fell to the Aggies in a five-set thriller at Reed Arena last season. ESPNU will highlight Texas A&M on Oct. 26, when the Aggies play host to Missouri, who the Aggies defeated in five sets last year in Columbia, Missouri, to clinch their first conference championship.
Other conference matches to be televised are Texas A&M at South Carolina on Oct. 30 and Alabama at Texas A&M on Nov. 3 on SEC Network, as well as Texas A&M at Tennessee on Nov. 16 on ESPNU.
All Texas A&M home matches – including the Aggies' home opener against Wisconsin of the Big Ten Conference on Sept. 16 – and most conference road matches not slated for SEC Network/ESPNU will be accessible on SEC Network +.
The Texas A&M volleyball team officially reports to campus August 8 and begins preseason training on August 9. The Aggies open the season August 26 at the North Texas Challenge in Denton, Texas.
All-Americans Jazzmin Babers and Stephanie Aiple, the 2015 SEC Player of the Year, will lead a talented Texas A&M squad that returns 14 letterwinners overall – including five starters plus the libero – from last year's team that won 14 consecutive matches to close out its historic run in the SEC. The Aggies, who finished conference play 16-2, went 24-7 and were an all-time high No. 9 in the final NCAA Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) as well as No. 18 in the final AVCA Top 25 poll after reaching the second round of the NCAA Championship.
Reigning SEC Coach of the Year Laurie Corbelli and Associate Head Coach John Corbelli, entering their 24th season at the helm of the Aggies, also welcome the addition of eight heralded freshmen, as well as first-year assistant coach Trevor Johnson.
