COLLEGE STATION, Texas –Texas A&M Volleyball has added an exhibition match to its preconference schedule and will take on Shandong from China on Monday, Sept. 5. The match will be contested at the A&M Consolidated High School gymnasium, because Reed Arena is reserved for a career fair on the only date compatible for both teams. First serve is slated for 6:30 p.m.
Â
Admission to the match is free.
Â
The match will mark Texas A&M's first local appearance of the 2016 season, as the Aggies don't make their Reed Arena home debut until Sept. 16 when they play host to fourth-ranked Wisconsin.
Â
Texas A&M, ranked 16th in the AVCA Top-25 Coaches Preseason Poll and the favorite to win the Southeastern Conference championship, returns five starters and the libero, as well as 14 letterwinners overall from last year's celebrated team that won the SEC. Laurie Corbelli, entering her 24th season as head coach of the Aggies, also welcomes eight true freshmen along with a redshirt freshman.
Â
The Aggies begin the season August 26 against Nevada in the opening match of the North Texas Challenge in Denton, Texas. First serve against the Wolfpack is at 3 p.m. at the Mean Green Volleyball Center.
