COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M women's basketball coach Gary Blair hosts his fourth Coaching Academy on October 15-16 in Reed Arena. The event, which has attracted over 100 coaches from all levels across the region, features former Dayton head coach Jim Jabir as the keynote guest speaker.
Â
"The Coaching Academy has created a wonderful platform for us to share how we play and teach basketball the Aggie Way," said Texas A&M women's basketball head coach Gary Blair. "Our staff takes great pride in putting the Academy together in such a way that we can benefit junior and high school coaches as much as possible during the weekend, and continue our commitment to grow the game."
Â
Keynote speaker Jim Jabir led Dayton to six NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2015. Jabir totaled 472 career wins in 29 seasons as a head coach at Buffalo State, Siena, Marquette, Providence and Dayton.
Â
The academy includes sessions led by each of the Texas A&M women's basketball coaches, focusing on wide-ranging topics on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.
Â
Registration for the academy includes two meals, the sessions, and the Aggie Playbook DVD, which features tips on scouting, motivation, philosophy, conditioning, a playbook with offense, defense and special situations and practice planning.
