Women’s Basketball To Play Southern Dec. 17 In Houston’s Campbell Center

Texas A&M women's basketball announced the addition of a game to the 2016-17 schedule, taking on Southern on Dec. 17 at the Campbell Center in Houston at 2:30 p.m. in a neutral site game.

COLLEGE STATION- Texas A&M women's basketball announced the addition of a game to the 2016-17 schedule, taking on Southern on Dec. 17 at the Campbell Center in Houston at 2:30 p.m. in a neutral site game.
 
"We are excited to be able to play a game in Houston, which not only is a great city for girl's and women's basketball, but is also home to many Aggie fans," said Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair. "Over the years, many Houston-area players have decided to play at Texas A&M, including three on our current roster. We are thrilled to be able to play a game in their backyard."
 
Current student-athletes Curtyce Knox, Caylinne Martin and Jasmine Williams hail from the Houston-area. In addition, Texas A&M stars such as Kelsey Bone, Sydney Colson, Adora Elonu, La Toya Micheaux, Patrice Reado, Takia Starks and Courtney Williams played their high school basketball in the Houston-area.
 
The Aggie women's basketball team advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 11th straight season in 2015-16, finishing in second-place in the SEC and a 22-10 overall record. Head Coach Gary Blair, with 717 wins under his belt, led the Aggies to a final national ranking of 18.
 
Texas A&M's first public event for its basketball squads is Maroon Madness on Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. inside Reed Arena, which will include on-court entertainment and other fan-friendly events. The Aggies host an exhibition against Oklahoma City on Nov. 5, and tip off the regular season by hosting Central Arkansas on Nov. 13 at Reed Arena.
