Texas A&M Ranked No. 1 in NCEA Rankings

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Equestrian team jumped two spots to No. 1 in the latest National Collegiate Equestrian Association poll, the selection committee announced Wednesday.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M Equestrian team jumped two spots to No. 1 in the latest National Collegiate Equestrian Association poll, the selection committee announced Wednesday.
 
The ranking marks the first time the Aggies have held the top spot since September 30, 2012.
 
The Aggies (2-0, 1-0 SEC) opened the season with two road wins against UT Martin and No. 8 South Carolina. Texas A&M is led by reigning SEC Riders of the Month, sophomore Sarah Orsak and junior Maddie Swem.
 
Orsak helped lead the Horsemanship team to a 3-0 shutout against the Gamecocks with her MOP-winning performance and defeated UT Martin's Liana Woak, 73.5-72.5 in the season opener.
 
Swem recorded a perfect 2-0 mark in Equitation on the Flat and won bother of her points by an average score of 10.5.
 
Auburn is ranked second as Georgia, Baylor and Fresno State round out the top five. SMU is sixth followed by TCU at No. 7, South Carolina at No. 8 and Oklahoma State and New Mexico State close out the rankings.
 
The Aggies return to action Saturday, October 15 at No. 2 Auburn at 10 a.m. CT.
