Malibu, Calif. – Junior Arthur Rinderknech picked up a trio of wins at the 2016 Oracle ITA Masters, Thursday at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, California. Rinderknech advanced to the second round in the singles draw and the third round of the mixed doubles draw.

Following the success of last year's inaugural Oracle ITA Masters, the event returns in 2016 with an expanded field in men's and women's singles, allowing for players from all across Division I to participate.

No. 9 Rinderknech topped Alex Chepik of Bethune-Cookman 6-2, 6-2 in Thursday's first round. Rinderknech, the tournament's third-seed, advanced to face No. 110 Adam Moundir of Old Dominion Friday. The second-round winner will face the winner of No. 5 Christopher Eubanks of Georgia Tech and No. 15 William Bushamuka of Kentucky in the evening session.

In the mixed doubles draw, Rinderknech is playing alongside Jasmine Lee of Mississippi State. The SEC pair are the top-seed and advanced to the third round with a 7-6(5) win over Sitilia Rencheli and Kei Ezaka of Quinnipiac and a 6-2 triumph over Gabriela Porubin of Wichita State and Vinny Gillespie of Drake. Rinderknech and Lee are set to face Luisa Stefani and Guilherme Hadlich of host-Pepperdine Friday at noon.

Seeding for the Oracle ITA Masters was based on a players' Universal Tennis Ratings. Yuya Ito of Texas is the No. 1 seed in the men's singles draw, while Luisa Stefani of Pepperdine is the top seed in the women's singles draw.

Invitations were sent out to one male and one female from each Division I Conference to participate, with criteria similar to the NCAA Tournament being used. The invites caused the draw size to increase from 16 to 32. A 32-team mixed-doubles event will also take place at the 2016 Oracle ITA Masters, with players from the same conference partnered up wherever possible.
