ALPHARETTA, Ga. – The 21st-ranked Texas A&M men's golf team jumped to within two strokes of the lead after an impressive second round Saturday at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate.

The Aggies (291+285=576, E) came into the day eight strokes back of tournament leader Oklahoma (283+291=574, -2) and were as many as 13 strokes off the lead before an impressive finish. The squad holds a share of second place alongside Virginia (289+287=576, E) and will look to win their first team title of the season after top-three finishes in each of its previous outings.

Chandler Phillips (71+69=140, -4) continued his impressive run with another round in the red. The sophomore owns a share of fifth place heading into the tournament's final round, five back from leader Jimmy Stranger (67+68=135, -9) of Virginia. Phillips will try to make it four straight individual titles for A&M in Sunday's final round.

Junior Cameron Champ (72+70=142, -2) carded a 70, including an eagle on the 7th hole, as he climbed eight spots on the leaderboard into a tie for ninth. Freshman Viraj Madappa (75+71=146, +2) shot one-under on the day to vault 14 spots into a share of 29th. Junior Kavan Eubank (73+75=148, +4) fell into a tie 42nd while sophomore Brandon Smith (75+78=153, +9) holds a share of 70th in his first collegiate tournament.
