"We are excited to open the season as it has been a long wait," head coach Jo Evans said. "We are excited to see new faces and some familiar faces and see how they compete against professional players. I am excited to see how we handle the challenge and how our pitchers manage against tough hitters throughout their entire lineup. Tomorrow is a great opportunity for us to learn about our ball club."

The Aggies are coming off a 39-20 campaign while earning a berth into the NCAA Regionals for the 15th consecutive season. Junior Tori Vidales paced the Aggies on offense en route to being named to the NFCA All-America Third Team as well as the All-SEC First Team. The La Porte, Texas native hit .406 with 14 home runs and 55 RBI. Junior Ashley Walters was also named to the All-SEC First Team after batting .359 with 10 home runs and 58 RBI. Sophomore Samantha Show returns in the circle after a 25-win freshman season and is complemented by junior Trinity Harrington and newcomers Lexi Smith and Payton McBride.

The Pride, who won the 2016 NPF Regular Season Championship, are led by NPF Player of the Year Kelly Kretschman.
