TULSA, Okla. – The Texas A&M men's tennis team captured four wins in qualifying action at the 2016 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships Monday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Qualifying matches started Monday and continue through Wednesday afternoon, main draw contests get underway Oct. 6. The singles and doubles finals are scheduled for Oct. 10.
Junior Jordi Arconada topped Sebastian Rey of Tulane to open singles qualifying matches for the Aggies, while senior Max Lunkin fell to No. 70 Josh Hagar of Notre Dame. Arconada will face No. 59 David Wilczynski of Stanford Tuesday, with third round action to follow in the afternoon session. Lunkin will take on No. 96 Harrison O'Keefe of South Carolina in the consolation draw.
In doubles action, the Aggies claimed a trio of wins Monday afternoon. Arconada and junior AJ Catanzariti topped Sean Huynh and Dioga Rocha of Denver in the first round before dispatching Manuel Castellanos and Simon Pritchard of Kennesaw State in the second round. Arconada and Catanzariti will face No. 28 Justin Butsch and Jordan Daigle of LSU, Tuesday. Freshman Hady Habib and sophomore Aleksandre Bakshi claimed a first round win against Okkie Kellerman and Daniel Santos of Tulsa before falling to Walker Duncan and Wayne Montgomery of Georgia.
