COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Farmers powered past the Plowboys, 8-3, Thursday afternoon on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park to clinch the Omaha Cup.

The Farmers, who won the first game of the series which started on Tuesday and wrapped up Wednesday 4-2, pounded out 10 hits over the seven innings on Thursday, including doubles by Cameron Blake and Tommy Gillman and a triple by Braden Shewmake.

Blake Kopetsky was 2-for-3 with one run and three RBI to lead the Farmers. Austin Homan, Walker Pennington and Gillman each logged two hits. Shewmake and Gillman both scored three runs.

George Janca paced the Plowboys at the plate, batting 2-for-3 with two runs, one double and one walk. Hunter Coleman batted 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Corbin Martin worked 3.0 innings, allowing one unearned run on four hits and one walk while striking out three as the Farmers starting pitcher. Lee May Gonzalez and Jason Ruffcorn both worked 2.0 innings, allowing one run apiece.

The Plowboys' most effective starter was Tristen Bayless, fanning four in 2.2 hitless innings.

The Farmers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Shewmake started the game with an RBI triple down the rightfield line to lead off the top of the first. Kopetsky knocked Shewmake in with a single to right-center and he scored on a double by Blake.

The Plowboys responded with a run in the home half of the inning. Joel Davis drew a two-out single and Tim Lichty reached on an error by the third baseman. Coleman doubled to rightfield, to plate Davis, but the rally was killed when Lichty was gunned down at home.

Three hits and two errors led to a pair of Farmer runs in the second inning and they two apiece in the fourth and the fifth to take an 8-1 and coasted to victory.

The fall practice session wraps up Friday with the final scrimmage at 3:30 p.m.
