Smith dazzled in the circle, striking out eight, while only allowing two baserunners in six innings of work. Harrington closed the door in the seventh to earn the save.

In the top of the 2nd inning, freshman Miranda Miles singled through the right side and scored off on a single to left by junior Kristen Cuyos to give the White team an early 1-0 lead.

Maroon threatened in the seventh, getting runners on second and third following a sacrifice bunt by sophomore Riley Sartain. After sophomore Samantha Show was thrown out at home attempting to score on a wild pitch, Harrington got out of the jam with a groundout to second.

Freshman Payton McBride suffered the loss for Maroon, allowing only one run on four hits. Switching off with McBride was Show, who pitched three innings, giving up three hits and no runs.

Head coach Jo Evans Quotes
On Lexi Smith's performance …
"She had total command of her pitches. Her off-speed was working, and she was placing the ball where she needed to place it. The umpire had his strike zone established and she used it as well as she could. You can see Lexi Smith loves the ball and loves it in her hands in any given situation and it was fun to watch her out there."
