Women's Tennis Wraps Up Fall Season at Rebel Invitational
Nov 10, 2016 | Women's Tennis
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Members of the Texas A&M women's tennis team will compete in the final tournament of the fall season this weekend as they participate in the Rebel Tennis Women's Invitational at UNLV's Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas.
"It is hard to believe that the fall season will already be coming to an end this weekend," Texas A&M head coach Mark Weaver said. "We will have four girls competing, and my hopes are that we can close out the season on another high note, and I am confident that we will, just as we did this past weekend in the David Kent Invitational."
Seniors Rutuja Bhosale and Stefania Hristov, junior Eva Paalma and sophomore Domenica Gonzalez will be competing for the Aggies. Other schools represented in the three-day tournament are UNLV, SMU, Purdue, North Carolina State, Arizona and Colorado State.
"Rutuja has already had a very good fall season and has been playing some of her best tennis in her four-year career here at Texas A&M," Weaver said. "Eva, Stefania and Domenica have all been making some great progress in overcoming some difficult injures, and they are continuing to improve and get stronger every day. Getting the girls match-tough is ultimately the goal for this weekend, and with the way that the tournament format is set up, we will ultimately be able to accomplish that goal."
The tournament will consist of five flights of singles and two flights of doubles. Competition begins Friday with championship matches slated for Sunday.
Texas A&M opens the dual match season Saturday, Jan. 21 in a recently added home match against Stephen F. Austin.
