COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M Softball team concluded its fall season Wednesday evening at the Aggie Softball Complex as the White team defeated Maroon, 2-1, and took the annual Maroon and White Series, 4-1.
Maroon took a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when sophomore Kaitlyn Alderink was hit by a pitch and scored off of a freshman Sarah Hudek double to left center.
In the third, junior Tori Vidales hit a solo homerun over the left field wall, evening the score at 1-1. Sophomore Samantha Show singled to center and was plated by a base hit from senior Reagan Boenker to take a 2-1 lead over Maroon.
Show earned the win, allowing just six hits, one run, and striking out three in seven innings of work. Freshman Payton McBride was saddled with the loss, allowing four hits and two runs.
The Aggies will take a break until the spring season gets under way on February 10, 2017 as they host the Aggie Classic featuring Lamar, Central Michigan, and Ohio State.

Head Coach Jo Evans quotes
On the pitching staff tonight…
"Samantha Show threw 131 pitches tonight. That's a lot of pitches at the end of a five-game series and I am proud of her for hanging in there. I know she was a little sore and a little banged up. She showed a lot being able to go out there and compete like she did. Payton McBride threw 105 pitches and did really well for her team. Both pitchers made very few mistakes right down the middle or in the zone."
On the depth of this team…
"It is great, as a coaching staff, to know we have 18 players that can all help us at any given time in a game and can hold their own, just as they have this series. There are going to be some tough decisions to make down the stretch, but what's really important is that every player continues to compete like they did this fall for a position."
