COLLEGE STATION – Three current and four former Texas A&M equestrian riders shined at the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) World Show, which took place November 3-19 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.

Junior Avery Ellis won the AQHA Collegiate Horsemanship Challenge after defeating TCU's Megan McMullen, Oklahoma State's Libby Collins and Delaware State's Abigail Buckwalter, on There Goes My Zipper, donated by Barbie Evans. Ellis advanced to the finals, following wins over New Mexico State's Morgan Matzdorff, 146.5-140.5, and Auburn's Lauren Diaz, 147-145, in the preliminaries.

The College Station, Texas native was one of 16 collegiate equestrian riders to be chosen to participate in the competition with eight riders representing the NCEA and eight representing the IHSA. Since its inception in 2012, the Aggies are the only team from the NCEA to have a representative in the finals each season.

Sophomore Sarah Orsak was named Reserve World Champion in Level 3 Amateur Western Riding and was a finalist in Level 3 Amateur Horsemanship on Huntin By Moonlite.

Redshirt freshman Katie Conklin placed 11th in Level 2 Amateur Hunter Under Saddle on Dance On These Irons.

Caroline Gunn Rogers (2007-10) recorded three top-five finishes, placing third in Level 2 Amateur Trail, fourth in Level 3 Amateur Trail and fourth in Amateur Horsemanship on So Dang Lazy.

Christine Sceets McWhorter (2005-08) finished sixth in Level 2 Amateur Western Riding, fourth in Level 2 Amateur Trail and was a finalist in Level 3 Amateur Trail on Intangible Award.

Caroline Ammons (2011-14) placed 12th in Level 3 Amateur Trail on Ginnin.

Jessica Tate (2002-05) record a seventh place finish in level 2 Amateur Hunter Hack, a 10th place finish in Level 2 Amateur Equitation Over Fences and was 12th in Level 3 Amateur Hunt Seat Equitation on Hes A Jagged Edge.
