MOBILE, Ala. — Texas A&M seniors Justin Evans and Josh Reynolds have been invited to participate in the 2017 Reese's Senior Bowl, the Senior Bowl committee announced on Monday.
The senior pair was instrumental in the Aggies' 8-4 overall record, which yielded three victories over Associated Press Top 25 teams and the school's eighth-straight bowl game invitation.
Evans, a safety from Wiggins, Miss., ranked No. 2 on the team with 85 tackles and led the squad with four pickoffs and a sparkling 28.9 kickoff return average (405 yards on 14 returns). During the 2016 season, Evans was named Nagurski Defensive Player of the Week and the Thorpe Defensive Player of the Week after the UCLA win and SEC Defensive Player of the Week after the Auburn victory. Evans posted double-digit tackles in four games in 2016, including a career-best 12 vs. Auburn and Ole Miss.
Reynolds, a wide receiver from San Antonio, Texas, is the Aggies' team leader in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns with 885 yards and 10 touchdowns on 49 catches. His 18.1 per catch average is the best in the SEC among players with more than 45 catches and he had a team-best four TD catches of more than 30 yards. He is the first player in school history to log double-digit receiving touchdowns in multiple seasons and he's posted a receiving score in seven straight games, which is a school record.
