
Texas A&M’s Gibson earns silver medal at FINA Short Course Worlds

WINDSOR, Ontario, Canada – Texas A&M senior Sarah Gibson earned a silver medal with Team USA's 4x200-meter relay on Saturday at the FINA World Swimming Championships.
Gibson, from San Antonio, Texas, combined with Leah Smith, Mallory Elizabeth Comerford and Madisyn Cox to earn a runner-up finish and silver medal behind Canada with a time of 7:38.65. Gibson turned in a third leg 200-meter split of 1:55.43.
Additionally, Gibson advanced through two rounds of the 100-meter butterfly on Saturday to advance to Sunday's final. Gibson turned in a time of 57.20 in the prelims and 56.88 in the semifinals to earn the No. 4 seed.
In other action, former Texas A&M NCAA Champion Alia Atkinson, representing Jamaica, won the gold medal in the 100-meter breaststroke with a winning time of 1:03.03.
