HOUSTON --- Texas A&M junior defensive end Myles Garrett was named a finalist for the Rotary Lombardi Award for a second straight year, the Rotary Club of Houston announced on Wednesday.

HOUSTON --- Texas A&M junior defensive end Myles Garrett was named a finalist for the Rotary Lombardi Award for a second straight year, the Rotary Club of Houston announced on Wednesday.

Garrett, from Arlington, Texas, was joined by Alabama defensive end Jonathan Allen, Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson and Michigan linebacker Jabrill Peppers on the elite list.

Garrett, also a consensus All-America selection, led the Aggies with 8.5 quarterback sacks and 15.0 tackles for loss and also contributed two forced fumble and 10 QB hurries. Garrett goes into the bowl game as the nation's active leader in QB sacks with 32.5, and he needs just one sack to move into the Texas A&M and SEC top five for career QB sacks after just 35 games.

The award ceremony, to be held at the Houston Hobby Center, Saturday, February 11, 2017, will announce the final winner who best demonstrates outstanding performance and skill in their position and best exemplify the discipline, virtue and wisdom that defined Vincent Lombardi's exceptional brand of leadership.

Earlier in the day, Garrett earned consensus All-America honors with his selection to the elite squad picked by the American Football Coaches Association. Previously, Garrett had received first-team kudos from the Associated Press, the Sporting News, the Walter Camp Football Foundation and the Football Writers Association of America.
