WINDSOR, Ontario, Canada – Texas A&M senior swimmer Sarah Gibson and associate head coach Tanica Jamison will represent the Aggies as a part of Team USA at the FINA World Swimming Championships Dec. 6-11 at the WFCU Centre.
Gibson, from San Antonio, Texas, will compete in the 50 and 100-meter butterfly races and she's eligible to swim on multiple relays for Team USA. Gibson has had a tremendous start to her final collegiate season at Texas A&M. Gibson currently ranks in the top 15 nationally in six races -- No. 2 in 100 fly, No. 2 in the 200 fly, No. 8 in the 200 free, No. 11 in the 100 free, No. 14 in the 1,000 free and No. 15 in the 500 free.
At last year's NCAA Championships, Gibson earned first-team All-America honors in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly and with the Aggies' 400- and 800-free relays and the 200 medley relays. She also set a pair of school records in the 100 fly and the 200 free.
Joining Gibson at the Short Course Worlds will be Jamison, who is in her fifth season on head coach Steve Bultman's Aggie staff. Jamison will serve as an assistant coach for Team USA under head coach Arthur Albiero, who is also the head coach at Louisville.
The competition will welcome up to 1,000 of the world's best swimmers from over 176 countries as they compete for World Championship glory in the 13th edition of the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m). Expected to draw more than 35,000 spectators, this elite competition will bring the world's best swimmers together to compete for 46 gold medals over 6 days in a temporary world championship pool to be constructed within the WFCU Arena.
