Men's Basketball Falls at LSU, 76-71

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- Ben Simmons had 16 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists, and LSU defeated No. 15 Texas A&M 76-71 on Saturday, dropping the Aggies to their fourth straight loss.
Craig Victor scored 16 points and Keith Hornsby added 15 for the Tigers (16-9, 9-3 Southeastern Conference), who remained tied atop the SEC standings with Kentucky.
Danuel House scored 20 points for Texas A&M (18-7, 7-5), which has lost five straight conference games. Alex Caruso scored 14 points and Jalen Jones added 12 for the Aggies, who led by as many as seven points early in the second half, but faded down the stretch for a fifth loss in six games, which could drop them out of the AP Top 25.
Antonio Blakeney scored 10 points for LSU, which won for the second time in four games against ranked opponents this season. Simmons also had three steals and a blocked shot without committing a turnover.

- Texas A&M dropped a 76-71 decision to LSU Saturday inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge … The Aggies' overall record now stands at 18-7 on the season with a 7-5 mark in SEC play.
- The setback snapped a three-game winning streak by the Aggies in the series, which LSU leads by the count of 18-15.
TEAM NOTES
- The Aggies fell behind 7-0 in the contest but rallied to take a 37-33 lead at intermission.
- Free throw opportunities played a big role in the game as A&M only shot seven times from the charity stripe, converting six of its chance (85.7 percent) … LSU, meanwhile, was 23-of-29 (79.3 percent) from the free throw line.
- Texas A&M used the starting lineup combination of Anthony Collins, Alex Caruso, Danuel House, Tonny Trocha-Morelos and Tyler Davis for the ninth time this season (7-2) … Collins was limited to just five minutes played due to illness.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
- Led by a game-high 20 points from senior Danuel House, the Aggies placed four players in double-figure scoring including Alex Caruso (14), Jalen Jones (12) and Admon Gilder (11).
- House finished 9-of-14 shooting for the game, logging the 13th game of 20 or more points during his two-year A&M career.
- Texas A&M head coach Billy Kennedy is now 89-68 in his fifth season at Texas A&M and 300-247 in 18 seasons as head coach.
