COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M women's tennis team is No. 21 in the 2017 preseason Oracle/ITA Women's National Team Rankings, released today by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
In the individual rankings, senior Rutuja Bhosale and Rachel Pierson will begin the season No. 17 in the ITA doubles rankings. Tina Bokhua, a junior transfer from the University of Colorado, is the Aggies' top-rated singles player, as she will enter the spring season No. 57. Pierson received a No. 85 singles ranking.

Second-year Aggie head coach Mark Weaver returns six players from last year's team that went 17-11 and finished with a No. 19 national ranking after advancing to the second round of the NCAA Championship before falling to eventual national champion Stanford, 4-3. He also welcomes the return of fifth-year senior Stefania Hristov, who redshirted last spring.
Newcomers include Bokhua, the 2015 ITA Mountain Region Rookie of the Year, as well as Macarena Olivares, a junior transfer who was a two-time All-American in both singles and doubles at ASA College in Miami. Margo Taylor, a sophomore transfer from the University of Tennessee, will practice with the team but will be unable to compete.
The Southeastern Conference leads the nation with nine women's teams listed in the ITA preseason top 25, including No. 1 Florida, the defending SEC regular season and tournament champion. The Gators come to College Station on Sunday, March 5 to take on the Aggies at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center.
