COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M softball team was selected to finish sixth in the annual Southeastern Conference preseason poll, as voted on by the league's coaches.

The Aggies, who received a first-place vote, return 12 letterwinners from last year's squad that finished 39-20 (9-15 SEC) and advanced to an NCAA Regional for the 15th consecutive season.

Points for the poll were awarded on a 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12 basis. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.

The Maroon and White begin the 2017 season on Feb. 10 against Lamar at 5:15 p.m. at the Aggie Softball Complex.Â
