Milligan Named To USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Watchlist

COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M sophomore Keeli Milligan was named to the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Watchlist, announced by USA Softball on Wednesday.
 
The Vidor, Texas, native earned a spot on the All-SEC Second Team and SEC All-Freshman Team last season after hitting .379 in the lead-off spot with a home run and 12 RBI.
 
A starter in all 59 games, Milligan broke the school's stolen base record with 54, surpassing Sharonda McDonald's 2004 mark of 48. Milligan scored 59 runs last season, which is the second-highest total in program history.
 
The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award enters its 16th season and recognizes outstanding athletic achievement by Division I female collegiate softball players across the country.
 
The Top 25 Finalists for the 2017 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award will be announced April 12. While an athlete does not have to be on the "Watch List" to be considered for the Top 25, the eventual USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will come from the Top 25 Finalists. The Top 10 Finalists will be announced May 10 and the Top 3 announced May 24. The 2017 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be revealed May 30.
 
Milligan and the Aggies will open the 2017 season with the Aggie Classic, Feb. 10-12.
