COLLEGE STATION —The Texas A&M football team will conduct their annual Aggie Football Youth Experience on Saturday, March 4 for boys and girls ages 8 to 13.  NCAA rules prohibit any youth enrolled in the 9th grade or older from participating in this event.

"This state and community do so much for our football team and our overall athletic program that we would like to offer this free experience to the kids," Aggie head football coach Kevin Sumlin said. "The youngsters have an opportunity to interact with our coaches and players and learn the fundamentals. We've had great turnouts in the past and look for another impressive group this year."

Parents, guardians or youth coaches can access a registration form online at 12thMan.com. Under the heading Sports, choose Football, then click Extras at the top of the page, and then choose Aggie Youth Experience.  Required forms and waivers need to be filled out and returned via email at jelkins@athletics.tamu.edu or by fax to 979-862-4136.

Check-in will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the lobby of the Gilliam Indoor Track located inside the McFerrin Athletic Center at the southwest corner of Kyle Field. The clinic will begin at 1:30 p.m. and conclude at 2:30 p.m. The Aggie Youth Experience will be held on the Coolidge Grass Practice Fields, located adjacent to the McFerrin Athletic Center.  Parents, guardians, and coaches are asked to remain on site during the clinic.

The Aggie Youth Experience segments will focus on fundamentals such as form tackling, ball skills, running, and blocking. The goal is to develop football skills in a fun, safe and enjoyable atmosphere.

Participants are asked to wear tennis shoes or rubber soled shoes.  They will not wear helmets or shoulder pads. In addition, kids are encouraged to wear Texas A&M apparel and are asked not to wear any other college gear.

In an effort to make sure each participant receives attention at the event, the Aggie Youth Experience will be capped at the first 500 to register. Registration closes at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1st.
