COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M Equestrian's Avery Ellis was named the NCEA Shorty's Horsemanship Rider of the Month and SEC Horsemanship Rider of the Month, it was announced Wednesday.

Ellis posted a perfect 3-0 record with two MOPs and tallied her three highest scores of the season, helping the Aggies defeat No. 5 SMU and No. 8 South Carolina.

The College Station, Texas native began the month with a 75.5-68.5 victory over SMU's Hannah McCain to earn MOP honors and tied her season-high score of 77 against South Carolina on Feb. 10.

Against Georgia, Ellis scored a 76 to defeat Payton Anderson's 73 and was named MOP.

Ellis is the second Aggie to earn the Shorty's Horsemanship Rider of the Month award this season, joining Kaci Fisher who won in November, and the fifth to earn SEC Rider of the Month honors.

The Aggies return to action March 4 against No. 4 Auburn at 11 a.m. at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.
