No. 2 Texas A&M hosts No. 4 Auburn in SEC Finale

COLLEGE STATION – The No. 2 Texas A&M Equestrian team concludes its regular season SEC competition as it hosts No. 4 Auburn, Saturday at 11 a.m. CT at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.

"After a humbling weekend at Georgia, we have really amped our practices this week," head coach Tana McKay said. "We know we have another tough matchup this weekend, but I am pleased with how the girls have responded. I am looking forward to see some good rides."
 
The Aggies (7-3, 3-2 SEC) are coming off of a loss to No. 5 Georgia on Feb. 25, 12-4. In Horsemanship, senior Kaci Fisher defeated Graysen Stroud, 68.5-67 and junior Avery Ellis earned MOP honors with her victory over Payton Anderson 76-73. Both riders tallied their eighth victory of the season.
 
Sophomore Haley Franc also earned a point for the Aggies with her win against Charley Thiel, 70-68.5, in Reining. With the win, Franc tallied her sixth win and now ranks third on the team. Junior Rachel Hake leads the team with her eighth win in Equitation over Fences after dominating Liza Finsness, 84-69.
 
Auburn (6-3, 3-2 SEC) is coming off of a close 10-8 road victory over No. 8 South Carolina on Feb. 25. The Tigers swept MOP honors against the Gamecocks. Auburn controlled the Hunt Seat arena by winning Equitation on the Flat, 3-1, and Equitation over Fences, 3-2. In the Western arena, the Tigers took Horsemanship 3-2 before falling 3-2 in Reining. 
 
The two teams competed earlier this season on Oct. 15 in Auburn where the Aggies fell via the tiebreaker, 9-9 (1594-1501.5). The Maroon and White earned MOP honors from junior Madison Bohman in reining with a 72.5-71 victory over Ali Fratessa and sophomore Rebekah Chenelle in Equitation on the Flat after an 88-86 win over Ashton Alexander. Texas A&M won Equitation over Fences, 3-2, and dominated Reining 4-1 to come back from an 8-5 deficit to tie the meet.
