COLLEGE STATION – The No. 5 Texas A&M Softball team hits the road for a midweek matchup against Sam Houston State on Wednesday at the Bearkat Softball Complex. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.

The Aggies (19-1) are coming off a 4-0 weekend at the Texas A&M Invite, defeating UTSA and Georgetown twice. The Maroon and White outscored the two teams 35-1 and was led offensively by Kaitlyn Alderink, who hit .636 (7-for-11) at the plate. Riley Sartain and Kristen Cuyos each blasted two home runs, and Ashley Walters drove in nine runs.
In the circle, Samantha Show compiled two wins in nine scoreless innings while striking out five. Payton McBride recorded her first career win, and Lexi Smith notched a win, striking out 15 in 10 innings.
On the year, Sartain leads the Aggies with a .408 average, while Cuyos has a team-high five home runs. Texas A&M holds a 1.12 team ERA led by Show (8-0, 0.43 ERA) and Trinity Harrington (4-1, 0.75). Smith is 6-0 on the campaign with a 1.58 ERA.
Sam Houston State enters the contest with an 8-11 mark. Tori Koerselman holds a .404 average, while Megan Crosby has a team-high three home runs. In the circle, Tayler Atkinson is 2-7 with a 2.70 ERA.
The game will be the 109th meeting between the two teams with the Aggies holding a 95-13 advantage in the series. The two squads previously met this year on Feb. 15, in which the Aggies prevailed 2-0 behind a one-hit performance by Harrington.
