Texas A&M’s Pickrem lowers Canadian record in 200 IM

Victoria, B.C., Canada – Texas A&M sophomore Sydney Pickrem lowered her own national record in the 200-meter IM and qualified for the FINA World Championships in a second event on Sunday at the 2017 Canadian Swimming Trials at Victoria's Saanich Commonwealth Place.
Pickrem, who is from Dunedin, Fla., but competes internationally for Canada, crushed her Canadian record by over a half-second with a time of 2:09.56, while outclassing the field by over a second and a half. She will represent Texas A&M and Canada in the 200 and 400 IM at the FINA World Championships July 14-30 in Budapest, Hungary.

Pickrem had a huge sophomore campaign with three Southeastern Conference titles (two individual and one relay) and first-team All-America honors in the 200 breaststroke and the 200 and 400 IM at the 2017 NCAA Championships.
