NEW ORLEANS – Texas A&M men and women both gained No. 1 status in the latest national team computer rankings released by United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday.

As the Aggie men moved from No. 2 to No. 1 over Florida, the Texas A&M women vaulted from No. 8 to the No. 1 position over Oregon. The rankings released this week are based on marks from the 2017 season as preseason marks from the previous year are no longer factored in the computations.

Aggie men currently lead five events this season among the collegiate ranks while the women are among the top three in five events.

Collegiate leading marks for Texas A&M men include Fred Kerley (44.60, 400m), Robert Grant (49.40, 400m hurdles), 4x400 relay (3:01.74), Ioannis Kyriazis (288-9, javelin), and Lindon Victor (8,472, decathlon). Audie Wyatt (18-8 ¼) is currently tied for second in the pole vault.

For the Aggie women, top three marks this season include Danyel White (22.55w, 200m), Brenessa Thompson (22.59w, 200m), Jazmine Fray (2:01.43, 800m), 4x100 relay (42.82), and Audrey Malone (181-8, javelin).

The SEC remains a dominant force with 11 teams among the top 25 for both the men and women. This week a majority of SEC schools meet at Bernie Moore Stadium in Baton Rouge as LSU hosts the SEC Relays on Friday and Saturday, where team scoring will factor men's and women's teams together.

Relay events contested at the SEC Relays include 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, 4x800, sprint medley, distance medley and shuttle hurdle. In addition there were will be a jumps relay and a throws relay as the single highest mark from each school in each discipline will be added together for a combined four event total.
