Aggies Celebrate National Championship at Annual Banquet

COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M Equestrian team celebrated its 12th national championship at the annual banquet Friday at the All-American Club in Kyle Field.

COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M Equestrian team celebrated its 12th national championship at the annual banquet Friday at the All-American Club in Kyle Field.
 
Head coach Tana McKay and staff honored those who earned academic and athletic achievements throughout the year, while members of the team voted on the yearly awards.
 
Izzy Norton was presented with the Aggie Heart Award, which is given to the team member that best exemplifies what it means to be an Aggie, always puts the team's needs ahead of her own while setting a positive example both in and out of the arena and strives to push others to be the best.
 
Sarah McEntire was awarded with Most Improved as the senior from Four Oaks, N.C., finished the season with an 8-3-4 record in Reining. McEntire earned MOP honors at Auburn and was named to the NCEA All-Championship Team.
 
Rachael Hake was named MOP in Equitation over Fences after finishing the campaign with a team-best 16-2 record. Hake won all six of her points at the SEC and NCEA Championships and closed the season with an 11-meet win streak.
 
MOP in Horsemanship was given to Avery Ellis, who recorded 13 wins and four MOPs. The College Station native was named the SEC Horsemanship Rider of the Year and earned NCEA Championship MOP in Horsemanship.
 
Rebekah Chenelle was awarded with MOP in Equitation on the Flat with a team-high 12 wins. Chenelle earned back-to-back MOP honors at Auburn and South Dakota State and was 4-0 at the NCEA Championship. The Hebron, Conn., native was named the NCEA Championship MOP in the event.
 
Madison Bohman was bestowed with MOP in Reining following a 12-4-1 season with four MOPs. Bohman was 3-0 at the NCEA Championship to earn a spot on the NCEA All-Championship Team.
 
The Iron Horse Award was presented to Annie Sloop, which is given to the team member who has shown the most dedication and improvement in the weight room.
