FORT COLLINS, Colo.- Texas A&M was selected as one of 16 teams to participate in the 2017 Preseason WNIT. It is the Aggies' second appearance in the event, and first since 1995.

The Aggies will play at least three games in the Preseason WNIT, and four games in the event should the Aggies reach the championship game. All games are hosted by participating schools.

The field includes five 2017 NCAA Tournament teams; Drake, Louisville, Oregon, Toledo and Texas A&M highlight the field. Cal State Northridge, George Mason, Houston, Liberty, Louisiana-Lafayette, Michigan, Milwaukee, New Orleans, Old Dominion, Saint Francis (Penn.), and Southeast Missouri State are the remaining participants.

This is the second event of the Aggies' 2017-18 non-conference schedule that has been announced. The Aggies previously announced their participation in the 2017 Big 12/SEC Challenge, hosting West Virginia as part of the event.

The Aggies went 22-12 in the 2016-17 season, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament for the 12th consecutive year. The Aggies reached the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament after posting a 21-point comeback, the biggest comeback in the history of the event, in the NCAA First Round against Penn.
