COLLEGE STATION—A total of 67 Texas A&M student-athletes representing nine different Aggie sports programs are spending a portion of their semester break displaying an Aggie Core Value of selfless service by helping others with Mission of Hope, Haiti.

The group is led by Aggie Football Director of Player Development Mikado Hinson and assistant athletics director for sports performance Tanna Burge.

"We made our first trip last year with 28 student-athletes and the excitement they showed for the trip has helped our number blossom this year," Hinson said. "We hope to make an impact by educating, ministering and serving the people of Haiti. One thing is for certain, we are bringing a lot of manpower."

Hinson said the group will build, paint, plant and interact with the people of Haiti.

"We have a number of student-athletes who attended last year and are returning for a second time," Hinson said. "Those who participate come back with a greater sense of purpose and humility."

The group will leave in the early morning hours on May 13 and will return on May 20.

"The people of Haiti are tremendous," offensive tackle Koda Martin said. "I can't wait to get back down there. Anything we can do to help is so appreciated by the people of Haiti. I believe we get more out of it than we put in. The smiles on the kid's faces by just playing with them is worth the trip."
