Texas A&M women's basketball assistant coach Amy Wright was selected for induction into the University of Arkansas Sports Hall of Honor, the department announced on Thursday.

Wright is one of nine named to the 2017 induction class. The 2017 class will be inducted during Hall of Honor weekend, Sept. 7-9 in Fayetteville.

The Arkansas all-time record holder for assists in a career (717) and second for a single season (205), Wright finished her career as the first starting point guard to take the Razorbacks to four consecutive post-season appearances (1999-2000, WNIT; 2001-02, NCAA) under current Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair.

As an assistant coach at Texas A&M since 2013, she has helped the Aggies to five NCAA Tournament appearances, extending the Aggies' overall streak to 12 straight appearances. She helped the Aggies win the 2013 SEC Tournament and advance to the 2014 NCAA Elite Eight. In Aggieland, she works with Texas A&M's point guards, in-bounds plays and serves as recruiting coordinator.

As a freshman, Wright guided Arkansas to the 1999 WNIT Championship. Her teams won 77 games, including three 20-win seasons, for one of the most successful four-year periods for Arkansas. Her senior season team set the Arkansas record for the least turnovers in a season.

An SEC Academic Honor Roll selection and member of the Arkansas Academic Honor Roll as a sophomore (1999-2000), Wright never missed a game, playing in a school-record 131 consecutive contests. She was named to the Women's Basketball News Service preseason All-America team in 2001-02.

Following her collegiate career, Wright participated in the WNBA Pre-Draft Camp and was drafted by the Detroit Shock in 2002.

After her playing career, she entered coaching. She served stints at South Florida, Western Kentucky, Cleveland State and Arizona State before joining the Texas A&M staff. In her 13-year coaching career, Wright has been a part of 12 postseason teams, eight of which were NCAA Tournament teams, and has won four conference championships. Her teams have won 278 games, an average of 21.4 wins a year.

A native of Williamsburg, Ind., Wright earned a bachelor's degree in marketing and management from Arkansas in 2002. She completed her master's degree in sports and administration from Ohio University in December 2012.
