COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Texas A&M women's tennis 2017 recruiting class is ranked an all-time high No. 7 in the nation, according to Tennis Recruiting Network (TRN). The ranking obliterates the program's previous record-high No. 15 ranking received in 2012.

Mark Weaver, who just completed his second season as head coach of the Aggies, signed four players who will be freshmen when they join the team for the fall semester, including TRN five-star recruit Riley McQuaid of Tustin, Calif. Iulia Ivascu from Bucharest, Romania, Dorthea Abigel Faa-Hviding of Stavanger, Norway, and Tatiana Makarova of Odintsovo, Russia, complete the heralded recruiting class.

Texas A&M is one of four teams representing the Southeastern Conference in TRN's list of top 10. Georgia is No. 1, and LSU, Vanderbilt, the defending SEC regular season and tournament champion, and Texas A&M are Nos. 5-7, respectively. South Carolina received a No. 18 ranking in TRN's list of Top 25. NCAA champion Florida received votes and ranks 29th. Missouri and Alabama also received votes and finished 37th and 38th, respectively.

The Aggies lose five seniors from last year's team that went 18-13 overall and was No. 16 in the final Oracle ITA Division I Collegiate Rankings after advancing to the NCAA Championship round of 16. Included in that senior class is Rachel Pierson, who this season became Texas A&M's first All-American in both singles and doubles. She paired with Rutuja Bhosale in doubles, and together they became the first doubles All-Americans in Texas A&M history. Saska Gavrilovska, who earned All-America honors in singles following her sophomore year, fifth-year senior Stefania Hristov and Mason Strickland also completed their collegiate careers.
