PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Texas A&M men's golf incoming freshman Walker Lee concluded his run at the 117th United States Amateur Championship on Thursday, falling in the match play round of 32 at Riviera Country Club.
Â
Lee (71-72=142, +2), who ended stroke play with a share of 35th place, defeated Kyle McClathchie of South Africa, 2 and 1, Wednesday during the initial stage of match play but fell to Doc Redman of Raleigh, N.C. (one up) in his return to the course.
Â
In addition to Lee's showing, Texas A&M was well represented at the event as current Aggies Cameron Champ (77-77=147, +7) and Kavan Eubank (77-74=151, +11) as well as recent graduate Adrià Arnaus (77-78=155, +15) were featured in the field. Additionally, A&M graduate transfer and current UTSA golfer Jake Goodman (80-72=152, +12) took his swings in Southern California.
Â
The Aggies look to be in a strong position for the upcoming 2017-18 campaign as Lee joins Champ and rising junior Chandler Phillips, who each claimed All-America honors last season, as well as Eubank and six other letterwinners from last season. Texas A&M will tee off the new season Sept. 10-12 when the Aggies take part in the Badger Invitational at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis.
