COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M defender Jimena Lopez was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week the SEC announced Monday.

Lopez was honored for her performances in the Aggies' two victories in California over the weekend.

In her Aggie debut Friday, Lopez launched a missile into the back of the net from 18 yards in the 94th minute for the golden goal in A&M's 1-0 victory against Pepperdine. The Mexico City product buried a penalty kick in the 65th minute of Sunday's 2-0 win against San Diego.

Lopez played left back for all 184 minutes of play as the Aggies' defense stymied their two opponents, holding them to a combined four shots on goal.

Texas A&M returns to action Saturday when the Aggies host the Oregon Ducks in an 8 pm contest at Ellis Field.
