ARDMORE, Okla.- Texas A&M's women's golf team leads the Lady Maxwell after one round at Dornick Hills Country Club. Seven Aggies rank in the top 15 places individually.
The Aggies shot a 6-over 290 in the first of three rounds, putting Texas A&M 10 strokes ahead of second-place Sam Houston State.
Senior Maddie Szeryk and freshman Ariana Saenz, who is playing as an individual, both shot even-par 71 to tie for second, and sit two strokes behind tournament leader Hannah Alberto of Sam Houston State at 2-under.
Freshman Amber Park shot a 1-over 72 on the par 71 / 6,120 track, to tie for fourth place. Junior Chloe Velasco is tied for sixth with a 2-over 73. Freshman Morgan Lay, who shot a 3-over 74 and sophomore Courtney Dow, who was an SEC All-Freshman pick a year ago, shot a 4-over 75 and is in 11th place.
Playing as individuals, freshman Elizabeth Caldarelli shot a 6-over 77 to sit in 15th place, and redshirt freshman Mackenzie Matthews is tied for 37th with an 18-over 89.
