Walker Cup Opens in a new window
Before returning for his senior season, Texas A&M's Cameron Champ will represent the United States at the 46th biennial Walker Cup this weekend, teeing off on September 9-10 against a 10-person team from Great Britain and Ireland at the Los Angeles Country Club's North Course.

Champ, a native of Sacramento, Calif., will face the par-71 course which will be set up at 7,425 yards, as the U.S. attempts to recapture the cup after falling to Great Britain and Ireland in 2015.

All matches will be televised on Fox Sports 1, with day one foursomes broadcast from 11-2 p.m. (CT) and day one singles going from 4-7 p.m. (CT) on Saturday. The second day of the tournament, Sunday, begins with foursomes at 11-2 p.m. (CT) and singles from 5-8 p.m. (CT).

The Walker Cup Match is a highly-touted amateur team competition between the U.S. and a team composed of players from Great Britain and Ireland, selected by The R&A. The Match is played over two days with 18 singles matches and eight foursomes (alternate-shot) matches. Although the U.S. leads the overall series, 35-9-1, the teams have split the last 14 meetings since 1989.

Earlier in the year, Champ was named to the selective 10-person U.S. roster after he garnered national attention this summer by standing out as just one of two amateurs to make the 36-hole cut in the 2017 U.S. Open, tying for 32nd. Additionally, he won this year's Trans-Mississippi Amateur by four strokes and was runner-up in the Pacific Coast Amateur.

Champ was the medalist in the North & South Amateur in June and a semifinalist in the Western Amateur in August. In addition to leading the Aggies to a second-place finish in the 2017 SEC Championships, he was also chosen as a third-team All-American and a first-team All-SEC performer.

Many of golf's greatest players have competed in the Walker Cup, including U.S. Open champions Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson for the United States and Graeme McDowell, Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose for Great Britain and Ireland.
