Aguilar Wins Twice at ITA All-American

TULSA, Okla. – Texas A&M men's tennis freshman Juan Carlos Aguilar picked up a pair of victories at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championship Pre-Qualifying Saturday.  
 
The University of Tulsa is hosting the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championship for the 13th straight season, with matches taking place on the courts of the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Qualifying singles and doubles will follow the conclusion of the pre-qualifying draw on Oct. 2-3, with main draw matches scheduled for Oct. 5-9.
 
Aguilar topped Josh Howard-Tripp of Arkansas 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 to advances to the pre-qualifying second round. The Bolivian bested Turner Voges of Memphis; 6-3, 6-3; to advance to Sunday's third round against Petr Vodak of Buffalo at 8:00 a.m.
 
Junior Kevin Lam dropped a hard-fought three-setter to Elijah Melendez of Georgia Tech and will take on Will Matheson of Columbia in the pre-qualifying consolation draw Sunday at 11 a.m.
 
In addition to vying for the All-American national title, players will be competing to secure a berth into the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, which takes place November 1-5, in Palm Desert, California. Singles quarterfinalists, consolation singles champion and finalist, along with doubles semifinalists and consolation doubles champion and finalist advance to the end of fall national championship.
