Both Texas A&M swimming and diving teams were ranked in the initial College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top 25 poll of the 2017-18 season.
The Texas A&M women's team was ranked No. 5 in the first poll, while the Aggie men were ranked No. 15. Stanford took the top spot in the women's poll, while California was No. 1 in the men's ranking.
The Texas A&M women's team are the two-time defending Southeastern Conference Champions and are coming off a program-best third-place finish at the 2017 NCAA Championships. The Aggie women return an experienced roster with 10 returning first-team or honorable-mention All-Americans and six swimmers that won SEC titles (relay or individual).
The Aggie men's team are coming off a 16th place team finish at the 2017 NCAA Championships. Seven of the 10 swimmers and divers that the team took to the NCAA meet are back for the 2017-18 season, including All-SEC breaststroker Mauro Castillo who was recently ranked the No. 18 swimmer in the nation by Swimming World Magazine.
Both teams will open the 2017-18 season with a dual meet against Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., on Oct. 13.
