Morché Named SEC Defensive Player of the Week

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M standout Cosette Morché was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week the league announced Monday.
 
The junior goalkeeper from Lawrenceville, Ga., allowed just one goal in 290 minutes of play, registering two shutouts as the Maroon & White were wrapping up a grueling portion of the slate that included four matches in 10 days.
 
Posting a 0.31 goals-against average for the week, Morché blanked both Utah Valley and Alabama. In the double overtime win against Georgia, she came up with two big saves in the second overtime period before Grace Piper was able to put away the winning goal in the 109th minute.
 
For the season, Morché has logged all 1,214 minutes in goal, logging a 0.74 goals-against average and five shutouts.
 
It marks the third straight week an Aggie has earned SEC accolades with Cienna Arrieta and Ally Watt picking up SEC Offensive Player of the Week, respectively, the last two Mondays.
 
Texas A&M returns to action Friday as the Maroon & White host the Ole Miss Rebels in a 7:05 p.m. contest at Ellis Field.
