BISHOP, Ga. – The top-ranked Texas A&M equestrian team suffered its first loss of the season, 12-4, to No. 2 Georgia Friday at the UGA Equestrian Center.

"We knew this was going to be a tough meet," head coach Tana McKay said. "Our kids pulled out some ties and we had some close rides. We made some huge mistakes and you can't do that, especially on Georgia's home turf. We have to regroup and get ready for our meet tomorrow in Delaware."

The Bulldogs (2-0, 1-0 SEC) took an early 2-1 lead after Equitation over Fences. Rhian Murphy scored the lone point for the Aggies (3-1, 1-1 SEC), defeating Addy Cord, 80-77. Rachael Hake tied Maddy Darst at 79, while Rebekah Chenelle closed out the event with a tie with Ali Tritschler at 80.

Georgia extended its lead to 5-2 following the day's second event, Horsemanship. Bailey Cook topped Sammie Johnson, 76-74.5, while Avery Ellis and Madison Anger tied at 73.

In Equitation on the Flat, the Aggies fell 4-1 in the event but secured a point from Brianna Peddicord, who defeated Isabelle Heckler, 67-58, and earned MOP honors.

Madison Bohman led off Reining with a 72-71 victory over Kyndall Harper and was named MOP for her efforts. Haley Franc earned a tie with Jordan Carpenter at 73.

The Aggies return to action Saturday against Delaware State at the Dovington Training Center in Dover, Del., beginning at 10 a.m. Live stats for the meet can be found online at www.12thMan.com.
