Texas A&M Men’s Tennis Wins Five Matches on ITA Texas Regional Second Day

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M men's tennis team added five wins on day two of the 2017 Texas ITA Regional Championships Presented by Oracle to the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center. Matches began Thursday morning and are scheduled to conclude at Monday's singles and doubles championship matches.
 
No. 36 Jordi Arconada advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Oscar Janglin of Rice followed by a 6-2, 6-2 win over William Little of Baylor. The Texas A&M senior is set to take on John Mee of Texas on Sunday in the main draw quarterfinals.
 
Arconada and junior Kevin Lam advanced to the doubles semifinals after defeating Bjoern Petersen and Constantin Frantzen of Baylor, 8-4. The Maroon & White duo are set to face off with Rodrigo Banzer and Leonardo Telles of Texas Sunday.
 
Lam added a pair of wins in the consolation draw, defeating Sansidh Kommajaru of Texas-Arlington; 7-6, 0-6, 10-7; and Carlos Paton Canal of Lamar; 6-1, 6-3; to reach the consolation semifinals. The Irvine, Calif. native, will take on Roberto Rosales of SMU with a place in the consolation finals on the line.
 
Freshman Juan Carlos Aguilar dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Reese Stalder of TCU and No. 108 AJ Catanzariti fell 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 to Sebastian Santibanez of Lamar in the main draw round of 32.
 
Sunday's matches are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. (CT) with the singles and doubles main draw finals to take place on Monday.
