Recap: Women's Tennis at Haunted Horned Frog Classic
Oct 30, 2017 | Women's Tennis
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Dorthea Faa-Hviding and Margo Taylor went 3-0 in doubles to highlight the Texas A&M women's tennis team's weekend at the Haunted Horned Frog Classic, hosted by TCU at the Bayard H Friedman Tennis Center.
The Aggies went a combined 6-3 in doubles matches and 5-10 in singles matches during the three-day tournament which began Friday at the indoor courts, with the last two days of matches competed at the outdoor courts. A&M's complete results are listed below.
"Overall, I felt we played some very good doubles," A&M head coach Mark Weaver said. "We played some pretty aggressive indoor tennis in the doubles and ended up doing well. The singles was a bit of an adjustment to us, going from fast indoors courts on Friday to slow outdoor courts on Saturday, and it showed a bit at least in the first round of singles matches. We got a bit better as we continued on in the second round of matches on Saturday and then improved a bit more on Sunday. We have made some improvements since regionals and our goal is to continue to work hard as the fall season plays out and try to get better and better each and every day."
Other teams represented at the competition were Baylor, Middle Tennessee State, Northwestern State and Rice.
The Aggies have only one more individual tournament remaining until January, as they compete in the UNLV Rebel Invitational in Las Vegas, Nov. 10-12. A&M will compete in the Hawaii Invitational in Honolulu, Jan. 6-8, 2018, before beginning team dual match play on January 13.
