COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M softball team opens the fall season with a doubleheader Wednesday against Blinn at the Aggie Softball Complex. Game one is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start, while game two is slated for 6 p.m. Admission to both games is free.
The Aggies, who return 15 letterwinners from last season's team, are coming off their eighth NCAA Women's College World Series appearance and 16th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Maroon & White closed the 2017 season with a 47-13 record and a 16-7 ledger in conference, the best finish since joining the SEC in 2013.
Returning for the Aggies, Riley Sartain paced the offense with a .350 average and added 13 home runs and 49 RBI en route to being named a NFCA Third Team All-American. Tori Vidales added 17 dingers to lead the team, while Keeli Milligan was second on the team with a .319 average.
In the circle, Trinity Harrington was 14-4 with a 2.13 ERA, and Samantha Show was 19-7 with a 2.20 ERA and 119 strikeouts. Lexi Smith added 12 wins with a 1.63 ERA and Payton McBride was 2-1 with a 3.09 ERA.
