COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M's Samantha Show tossed a perfect game in game one of Wednesday's doubleheader sweep over Blinn College at the Aggie Softball Complex. The Aggies won game one, 10-0, before taking game two, 7-0.
The right-hander from East Bernard, Texas struck out eight while only throwing 76 pitches in seven innings of work.
Texas A&M struck first in the second inning as Erica Russell recorded a two-RBI double off the left field wall, and later stole home to put the Aggies ahead, 3-0.
In the third inning, the Aggies tacked on four runs to extend their lead to seven. Show belted a solo shot to left, followed by a three-run homer from Kristen Cuyos. The Maroon & White added two runs in the fifth off of a blast from Sarah Hudek. Texas A&M took advantage of an error in the sixth to add an insurance run.
In game two, the Aggies blanked the Buccaneers behind a one-hitter from Trinity Harrington, who struck out 11, while only allowing one base runner through 5.2 innings pitched. Payton McBride threw 1.1 innings in relief, retiring four while fanning two.
Texas A&M jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage in the first as Keeli Milligan kick started the Aggie offense with an infield double and was later pushed across by a single through the right side from Kaitlyn Alderink. Hudek, who went 5-for-6 on the day, blasted a triple down the right field line allowing Alderink to score. The Aggies concluded scoring in the first as Riley Sartain recorded an RBI on a groundout.
Alderink took advantage of a bases loaded walk to record another run in the fourth. In the fifth, the Maroon & White plated two off a pair of doubles from Sartain and Miranda Miles before Blake-Ann Fritsch extended the lead to 7-0 with an RBI single.

On the doubleheader…
"We did a good job of getting runners on, but we need to do a better job of scoring in those RBI opportunities. We stranded a lot of runners in that second game, so I would like to see us do a better job with that. Defensively I thought we were terrific and played really well. Overall, I felt like our team played hard. We stayed in the games and challenged them when we should. Offensively, I think that we can get better."
On getting back into playing games…
"It felt great. It feels like it has been so long since we have been on the field. For us, we don't care who we are playing or if it's in the fall. We are just so excited to play. I think you could see that in our team. We had fun and enjoyed it. We also took care of business. We didn't take our opponent lightly in any way. It just feels fun to be back out there on the field. We have high expectations this year, and our goals are high. The bar is high, and we know we are going to have to work hard to get ourselves back to the College World Series and make a run at it."
On Samantha Show's performance…
"Sam was so sharp tonight. I thought she did a really nice job of staying focused. She didn't get careless in any way. She attacked the strike zone, and I thought she played really good defense for herself. She gave us a chance to make plays out there and get outs. I love that she attacked the strike zone because that has been one thing we want her to improve on is throwing strikes and cutting back on the free passes. Tonight, I thought we did a great job of not giving any free passes. It is a great start for her."
