No. 19 Texas A&M has its first road test of the season, heading to long-time foe Texas Tech for a non-conference women's basketball game on Sunday. The Aggies defeated the Lady Raiders last season, 98-90 in overtime.
The game is broadcast on Fox Sports Southwest, with Chuck Heinz and Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame member Sheryl Swoopes on the call. The game is also available via streaming on the Fox Sports GO app. Tom Turbiville and Steve Miller have the radio call on The Zone 1150 AM/102.7 FM in Bryan-College Station, and worldwide on the internet at 12thman.com.
The game serves as a homecoming for Texas A&M guard Danni Williams, whose hometown of Clovis, N.M. is just 100 miles outside of Lubbock. Williams expects to have over 100 friends and family in attendance for Sunday's game. Williams had 32 points in last season's matchup with Texas Tech, a thrilling 98-90 overtime victory in College Station. Williams hit a 3-pointer with 2.7 seconds left in regulation to put the Aggies ahead, one of three lead-altering shots in the last seven seconds of regulation. Texas Tech would force overtime with a buzzer-beating jumper, but the Aggies would pull away in overtime.
Williams, along with teammates Chennedy Carter, Anriel Howard and Khaalia Hillsman, have each scored at least 10 points in all four games this season. Hillsman, who became the 29th Aggie with 1,000 career points in a career on Wednesday, ranks seventh at Texas A&M in career blocks, and can enter the top 10 in career rebounds with four on Sunday.
The Lady Raiders have won their last three games after dropping the season opener to Texas State. Five Texas Tech players are averaging at least 9.5 points per game this season, led by Brittany Brewer's 15.5.
After this game, the Aggies return to Reed Arena for a back-to-back of home games on November 28 & 29, hosting Prairie View then Rice. Both of those games tip at 7 p.m.
