COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M setter Camille Conner has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week, the Southeastern Conference announced today. It is the first time Conner has received the honor, although she did share SEC Setter of the Week accolades earlier this season.
Conner, from Katy, Texas (Seven Lakes H.S.), directed the Texas A&M offense to a .346 hitting percentage for the week as the Aggies hit above .315 in back-to-back road victories over Mississippi State and Alabama to close out the season.
Conner established a career-high for a four-set match and tied her overall career high with 46 assists in the 3-1 win against Mississippi State on Nov. 22. She also commanded the A&M offense to a .368 hitting efficiency against the Bulldogs, breaking the school record for team hitting percentage in a four-set SEC match.
In the sweep at Alabama on Saturday, Conner tallied her team-leading sixth double-double of the season with a team-high 11 digs and 28 assists while directing A&M to a .319 hitting percentage.
For the week, Conner averaged 10.57 assists, 0.57 aces and 2.57 digs per set.
Texas A&M hit above .310 in each of its final three matches to end the season riding a three-match win streak and finish 10-15, including 7-11 in SEC matches only.
