Texas A&M men close fall with win over UIW
Dec 16, 2017 | Men's Swimming and Diving
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M men's swimming and diving closed out the fall portion of its 2017-18 schedule with 169-113 win over Incarnate Word on Saturday at the Student Recreation Natatorium.
Aggie head coach Jay Holmes said: "We just needed somebody to race. It's a long time to go if you don't race from mid-November until January. We needed this and we're appreciative of Incarnate Word to come up here and give us the competition. We needed because it's hard to just keep beating up on each other in practice. Rather than swimming another six, seven or eight-thousand (yards) today, we just raced instead which is better for everyone. Every team right now is tired. It's December and it's the training cycle that every team is in. A lot of our guys were really tired, just like Incarnate Word was, but being able to step up on that block and race is what we wanted and what we got."
(On what Jay Holmes wants for Christmas) "Fast swimming every day – no bad days, I just want good days!"
