LOS ANGELES- Texas A&M tips off its 12th consecutive NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament on Saturday, taking on 12-seed Penn at 8 p.m. CT inside UCLA's Pauley Pavilion.
The game is broadcast on ESPN2, with Sam Gore and Julianne Viani on the call. Cable subscribers in Texas and Philadelphia will see the game in its entirety on ESPN2, and satellite subscribers across the country should check their TV guide for their dedicated alternate channel for the game. The fifth-seeded Aggies enter the tournament with four players that have started an NCAA Tournament game in their career. Forward Anriel Howard averaged 20.0 rebounds in two starts during the 2016 NCAA Tournament, including a Tournament single-game record with 27 in the First Round. Center Khaalia Hillsman averages 7.0 points and 7.0 rebounds in three career starts, and guard Curtyce Knox started the 2015 NCAA First Round game against Little Rock. Forward Taylor Cooper has one NCAA Tournament start in her career, scoring 15 points in a 2013 NCAA First Round game when she was at Oral Roberts.
Penn enters their fourth NCAA Tournament at 22-7 after winning the inaugural Ivy League Tournament. The Quakers are led by Missouri City, Texas native Michelle Nwokedi, who averages 15.1 points per game.
The winner of this game faces the winner of the game between 4-seed UCLA and 13-seed Boise State in the NCAA Second Round, which takes place in Pauley Pavilion on Monday, March 20.
