Szeryk Qualifies For NCAA Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio- Texas A&M junior Maddie Szeryk qualified as an individual for the NCAA Championships in Sugar Grove, Ill., finishing the NCAA Columbus Regional in 10th place at 222 (+6).
As a team, Texas A&M finished the season with a 53-over 917 to finish ninth. The Aggies shot a 20-over 308 on Wednesday at the par 72 / 6,416 yard Scarlet Course at The Ohio State University Golf Club.
Szeryk shot a 7-over 79 on Wednesday to conclude the regional. This is Szeryk's second trip to the NCAA Championships, having played in the event in 2015, shooting a 13-over 229 over three rounds.
Wednesday's round was the final collegiate round for three highly-decorated Texas A&M seniors, Bianca Fabrizio (77, +5), Thanya Pattamakijsakul (75, +3), and Andrea Jonama (78, +6).
Fabrizio, a two-time All-SEC selection, finished the tournament in a tie for 43rd with a 15-over 231. Fabrizio, one of just seven Aggies to win three tournaments in a career, finishes fourth on A&M's career stroke average list at 74.18. Fabrizio finishes second with 339 career birdies and shot par-or-better 39 times in 119 career rounds.
Pattamakijsakul finished the tournament with a 16-over 232, tying for 48th. She ranks seventh all-time at Texas A&M with a 75.05 career stroke average. The Champion of the 2016 Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, Pattamakijsakul had 30 career par-or-better rounds, which ranks fifth at Texas A&M.
Jonama tied for 61st at the NCAA Columbus Regional, shooting a 20-over 236. She finishes her career ninth at Texas A&M with a 75.45 career stroke average. Jonama ranks fourth at A&M with 303 career birdies.
Courtney Dow rounded out the Texas A&M lineup with a 17-over 233, finishing in a tie for 51st. Her 73.60 stroke average is the fourth-best for a Texas A&M freshman all-time.
Florida and South Carolina tied for the tournament championship with a 22-over 886. Florida State (+27), Ohio State (+29), Purdue (+40) and Michigan (+44) were the other advancing teams.
Kelly Grassel of Florida and Ana Pelaez of South Carolina shared medalist honors at even par 216. Cara Gorlei of Arkansas (+4) and Camila Serrano of FIU (+4) joined Szeryk as individual qualifiers.
The stroke play portion of the NCAA Championships run from May 19-22.
